"A Great Problem Goes West!"

The second part of the first episode of "The British Railway Series": Allen takes the Western engine home...albeit with a slight diversion along the way!

  • nice thumb!

  • @leokimvideo - thanks Chap :) I'm trialling it to see if adding the face makes a difference to how the video's views does. Adding a face on most videos does indeed make a difference, but I'm unsure if an engine's face falls into the same category.

  • At 4:13 Alan derailed, his driving wheels are inside the rails.

  • @whistleforthebigcash - no he isn't derailed, he has more finescale wheels than the hornby models around him, and therefore the look is "right" (the outside of the wheels and flanges fitting perfectly).

  • 'Land Of Hope And Glory' INDEED, Sir!

Lovely stuff. I shall save it for my great-grandkids.

  • Hi Rob,

Thanks very much for your compliments. I only wish I had more time to devote to making this series look better - the more eye catching it is, the better the story can be told. Kind Regards, Simon

  • What a great series! I wonder what the Reverend Wilbert Awdry would have to say about this! ;)

  • From Brack, age 5: I liked it when the big blue engine left the old Western engine behind, and then went back for him.

From Clement, age 9: very creative

From Dad: very helpful video for bringing up the next generation "correctly" ! Well done.

  • Lovely, I found this completely by accident, wonderful stuff :)

  • @: 2:01 What's in my mind: *Butcher talking quickly* "During the war, I had to help the home guard stop a runaway train. It's going to hit the King's straight- oh, and the Vicar, Virgin, the A.R.P.P. Person-"

    "Enough already!"

*continues* "-was a handcard, pulling us at the brake, so I.S.S. to the Captain *?* says-"

"QUIET!!" Good job on that; I just added som pizzaz to make it even funnier; anyways, good part of script!

  • Lol at the dad's army reference!

  • If the Reverend W. Awdry was here, he would be proud to see that you take railway realism seriously.

  • From seeing this episode for a third time I can see just how much the series have changed to the sets and the track work itself. And can I ask will any old engines be returning to the series in the episode to come?

  • I bet poor Allen was the subject of "Jazz Service" jokes when he got home.

  • at 1:03 the v2 isnt that herbert

  • Oh, my bad. Yeah, I haven't seen that kind of fit before. Sorry.
