Jerry Mulligan, a struggling American painter in Paris, is "discovered" by an influential heiress with an interest in more than Jerry's art. Jerry in turn falls for Lise, a young French girl already engaged to a cabaret singer. Jerry jokes, sings and dances with his best friend, an acerbic would-be concert pianist, while romantic complications abound. Written by Scott Renshaw

ill definately watch this movie cuz it has a lot of hype! im a huge musical fan, but honestly, im more into "updated" musicals because im not crazy about the really long dance numbers in the older movies.

The movie looks good, except for that scene with the two dudes and the piano.

you realize it's this was made in the 1950s and equipment and machinery weren't nearly as capable as it is today.

Gene Kelly was something else! All that choreography he made up himself and then he danced his own made up stuff out. Ridiculous!

Caron and Kelly are great, but my thoughts always strayed to the Nina Foch character---I felt sorry that he dumped her at the end. One is left wondering--how'd she do? Pick up another artist? Or learn from the experience?

it was easier to do all the dance numbers on the sound stage--practical vs. scenic. Actualy the designer did a very good job of simulating Paris---the Montmartre scene had me completely fooled. I never guessed!
