@transonicbuoy1 I stand corrected transonic. Thank you. How could I forget about the lightening!

The English Electric Lightning was doing accelerating verticals in the 1950s.

no wonder why they called typhoon :D i love the sound of this jet
-
I heard one of these shits takeoff and they are fucking loud

i know, the f-15 is a great aircraft and held the climb rate record for many years.
the eurofighter is nothing out the ordinary on t/w ratio, its the way it builds speed on the runway quickly and puts into a climb thats impressive but its nothing new. im an aviation fan and not dissing aircraft. its like ppl say the f22 has 70000lb of thrust so its superior but its a heavy bird and loaded the t/w ratio is nothing spectacular, it needs 70k lbs of thrust. the f15 is my fave aircraft, always will be
-
The first production fighter to have a T/W ratio over 1:1 is the F-15, 1970's tech, not 50's. Still, there is nothing unique about the T/W ratio of the Typhoon.
-
most fighter jets have been doing it since the 50's, its the time from standstill to vertical thats impressive not the act of going vertical.
-
Yeah because no other airplane has gone vertical before. Not.
Best fighter in the world!
