On Aug 2, 2007 two hundred + citizens of the Sunshine coast, BC gathered at the Sunshine Coast Regional District office with their continuing demand to the SCRD to issue an immediate STOP WORK ORDER to Western Forest Products' logging in the Chapman Creek Community Watershed. Concerned citizens put their lives on the line to go into the "Heli block" of the watershed, some to observe and some eventually stopping logging for a moment. There was much outrage when WFP continued logging with civilians in the forest. In Part 1 of the events from Aug 1 - Aug 5, 2007 footage of the clear cutting in the watershed is revealed along with more video that this is an OLD GROWTH forest with ancient Cedars and Yew trees -some just cut down that day.

  • Hello,

Since there are so many trees, please preserve the ones which are in Drinking Watersheds and cut your renewable forests. The quality of our water depends on it.

    Thanks

  • This is not about logging - This is about preserving water source. Log out of water reserves and everyone's happy.

  • shes a tree hugger. if you dont like logging move out of the forest.

  • Hey, they think its ok to use wood products but its not ok to cut down a tree.

I sell firewood for a side business, some people seem to have a problem with cutting trees, but guess what, they still buy the firewood.

  • Someone needs to slap that granola upside the head!!

  • its funny how people go so fare to roon other peoples lives in fales bilifes loggers are hard working people who are just trying to suport there kids and familys they love the trees just as much as thoes hippys

  • its not just cutting a tree that is the problem clear cutting has devastaing effectes on the ecosystem in the area such as erosion, loss of habitat, old growth forest also block cold winter winds im not againts cutting a tree but better practice and not clear cutting

  • "stop the logging now..." as they chant with their cardboard and paper signs with wooden sticks. it seems like a lot of people are against the "tree removal" aspect but are oblivious to how much it can be used for...

  • @fockerjman i'll add two for everyone you dont like hows that
