Dear Itheprosperone, you talk of great Sitar players-perhapes you dont know that Purbayan beside his father Parthapratim & Ustd. Ali Akbar,Purbayan himself was a former student of Ranjan Maharaj,though for only few months he took the training under him but he still uses many 'alap angs' of Ranjan Maharaj's style.

Ranjan Maharaj is a gifted artist and we shouldnt say like this about him-he plays serious music which is not for common audience who is unaware about traditional Indian Classical.

You're the one that goes around comparing your Ranjan to ever great sitar master who on youtube. I'm sorry but it is FACT, not personal opinion, that he is nowhere near the caliber of musician that people such as Rais Khan, Nikhil Banerjee, Vilayat Khan and many others are. To make such a comparison in all your comments as you do shows great ignorance and disrespect to the true masters of the instrument. You are condescending with your comments such as "real talented and more professional sitar"

I've seen you make this comment over and over on sitar videos. While Ranjan Maharaj is ok, he is not very good when compared to masters such as Rais Khan, Nikhil Banerjee, Vilayat Khan, Ravi Shankar, Shahid Parvez and many lesser known masters like Balaram Pathak and Purbayan Chatterjee. I'm glad you enjoy Ranjan Maharaj but if you're wanting to point people to top notch sitar playing, that would not be the place to start.

You realy play fantastic.You have a blessed hand.But if you like to listen to a real talented & a more professional sitar in youtube,then kindly visit the sitar videos of RANJAN MAHARAJ.I found his sitar clips while surfing youtube.After that nobody's sitar is touching me anymore.If you want to have a master's touch in your sitar play,then try to listen to him & adopt some of his techmiques in Sitar.Ranjan Maharaj is a real Maestro!
