"When we found out Maddie had a malignant Brain tumor back in September of 2010 we were crushed. Then we were told that she was diagnosed with the most rare, most aggressive form of brain cancer known as ATRT and only had a 10% chance of surviving. We were told she would need extensive chemotherapy, lasting one year. We would need to move to Jacksonville Florida for 2 months for 28 sessions of Proton Radiation. Maddie has gone through countless surgeries, (including a 8 hour brain surgery, in which Dr. Siomin saved her life), hundreds of needle pricks, blood transfusions, platelet transfusions, spinal taps, countless MRI, 7 hour EEG tests, visits to the ER, PICU, three visits every week to Physical therapy, Speech therapy, Occupational therapy. She's lost her hair, lost the ability to walk, lost the abilitiy to speak and now her eye sight is going. I could go on for ever, but I think you understand how much this little 2 yr old angel has gone through.......only for us to find out Friday, (three months shy of the finish line) that Maddie has relapsed and has a new tumor growth in her brain."
