In Florida, benefits of red-light safety cameras extend beyond public safety and into the world of cutting edge science. The Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act allocates a portion of traffic fines collected from safety cameras to Florida's trauma centers and to The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. The Miami Project's research into spinal cord and brain injuries has a direct impact on the many victims of motor vehicle accidents that suffer these types of life altering injuries.

Melissa Wandall lost her husband to a red-light runner two weeks before she gave birth to their daughter Madisyn. Her tragic loss prompted her to become an advocate for road safety and her efforts resulted in the passage of The Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act. www.melissawandall.com

Marc Buoniconti is the Chief Fundraiser for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. Following in the footsteps of his father -- Miami Dolphins Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti -- Marc was pursuing a professional football career when injury on the college football field left him paralyzed. He has been on a mission for a cure ever since. www.miamiproject.miami.edu

    Stop lying!

A 'responsibility fee' of $30 is PART OF A FINE. So don't lie about how much you force people to pay.

Mainly though red light cameras work in some places and not others. There are many locations where red light cameras increased number of crashes and deaths. Overall though the main affect RLC's have is that IT IS A WAY TO COLLECT MONEY.

It makes small changes in driver behavior, and mostly it changes the crash type from side impact to rear end collision.

Yes $13.00 go back to the Miami Project's research and what happen with $145.00 going to? Look it closely at the ticket it is not even in Florida it go some where else. The company who put the camera is making money this is not about safety.

Miami project looks neat. Was there not a camera at the intersection where Mark was hit?
