Actually, yes. PART of the blame goes with the consumers.Spoiled by the post-WWII economy, baby boomers (and their kids) spent beyond their means, going deep into debt.Government's ridiculous overspending and trade deficits accumulated even more debt. The cooked GDP and CPI numbers, along with the Fed's steady inflation of the US$, helped precipitate the whole mess.

vdubs...I agree with you, "At least we'll have jobs..."
Back to your original post..."Our government took tax dollars from every American so that a few Americans could go out and buy...cars."Regardless of the product or where it's manufactured, these retarded Keyensian bubble implementations like Cash-for-Clunkers,stimulus packages, etcetera that encourage consumption are the real problems.
I could write a lot more, but here is one of many videos (v=8N1vyoXUrOo) that start to explain it well.

I mean that litterally.. its the other Nations in this world that are Fucking the wealthiest of individuals whom look for safe havens.. (Switzerland).. i'm not talking accounts I'm talking New homes.. The worlds richest individuals are packing their bags and moving, They know whats happening in places like America.. and they know their in the (X) hairs.

All we are doing is putting the heads on the dolls... Toyotas are assembled here.. Not made.. We are not using our iron, steel, lead, copper... How does assembling foreign products makes our country wealthier? Wait till the dollar loses its reserve status and falls like a rock to the euro and the yen.. And we are working for chicken feed.. At least we will have jobs assembling toyotas like slaves..

The wars bankrupting this country are Federally (not State) funded.
No government is completely free of corruption, but the States fund the infrastructure (schools, utilities, roads, etc.) that brings us livelihood. The more money a State has (even if a portion is dishonestly used) gives the citizens of that State a (potentially) greater livelihood.
States are not distributing bailouts. (As far as I know.)

The cars (including Hondas and Nissans) are MADE IN USA.
Yes, the "profits" from cars MADE IN USA go to the Toyota company. But that money goes to EMPLOY AMERICAN WORKERS. Japanese opened factories here, not closed them like the Big 3.
Buying the garbage MADE IN CHINA, sends money overseas to a foreign manufacturing company that employs EXCLUSIVELY NON-AMERICAN WORKERS, which takes jobs away from Americans who could be making those products (with quality you will never see from China.)

As a certain Asian economic powerhouse once said about us "You Americans do not want to do anything other than play with your money". All too true.
