It would never have been credited as a quad today. Certianly underrotated, but impressive anyway.

4S<<, nice try though.

I can't even get it a half a turn. She's so good.
-
she barely even punched her knee through at alll...how could she possibly rotate four times off that? waa):
-
It's not a quad. It's a triple.
-
i think if she got more height then she would have completed the rotation a little more than she did here. if you watch her practice videos today, she gets perfect height and can land them cleanly :) this was probably one of the few times she did it in competition

@anubethc45 2 years ago (When I made that comment), Rachel Flatt was just starting to become established. o_o. So uh, check the date before assuming that I'm out of touch. I didn't dictate what she should do, whoa. She stopped doing them in competition because of the risk of falling and deduction. Did you check out her attempt in Torino?

great!!

she was 15 and also she had only been skating a couple years when she attempted it. Attempting the jump is a big deal, it can really mess with you

@momoyome How can it really mess with you? I'm actual curious...

@1cakesz Attempting the jump in competition is dangerous. I don't know if you skate or not. But attempting a really difficult jump can have consequences if you miss it, it can throw your whole program off and set it off on the wrong foot where you can't get the rhythm. Also in competition, you can be extra nervous so you're more apt to make mistakes you wouldn't normally make, which could result in serious injury.
