Thousands of Muralitharan's under LTTE detention - Wimal

The Patriotic National Movement has stressed that the government's efforts to eliminate terrorism should be continued. Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa said certain elements are attempting to derive benefits from the search operations carried out for the security of the people.
The Movement said the government should not be disheartened by the baseless accusations. Addressing the media in Colombo Mr. Weerawansa said Muttiah Muralidharan, who is a stakeholder of the Sri Lankan society, has done the country proud. But, he said Prabhakaran is depriving the country of moulding thousands of such stars. If Muralidharan was born in Kilinochchi or in the Wanni, Sri Lanka would not have witnessed such an outstanding person. Fortunately, he is a person who hails from the hill country. Mr. Weerawansa queried as to how many such stars the country had been deprived of, by Prabhakaran. Such opportunities of innocent Tamil children had been grabbed by detaining them in open torture chambers. They had not been given the opportunity of becoming glittering stars of the country. The Sri Lanka team had been strengthened by Murali. He and the team have reached the highest place in the world. Mr. Weerawansa added that by defeating terrorism, the country will have more individuals such as Muralidharan.
