Too Much Joy "Drum Machine" from their 1987 debut, Green Eggs and Crack.
"Then, of course, there's "Drum Machine," which we really believed was going to make us famous. (We even shot a video for that one, but the lunatic guys who ran the effects place we used insisted "Innocents Ablaze" was a better song, so they took the footage of us singing "Drum Machine" and somehow synced it up with "Innocents." It's a long story, and it didn't turn out well, so let's just drop it.) "Drum Machine" is a true story, by the way. Well, they're all true stories, but "Drum Machine" was true in the present tense: there IS a band in the studio right next to us with a drum machine, and they've actually paid Al, so we've been delayed a grand total of forty-five minutes before our scheduled session can begin, which not only makes us fucking angry, but turns out to be exactly how long it takes to write a song like "Drum Machine." That's another thing I learned to like while re-mastering this record: it's nice to know we were prima donnas long before anyone told us we were any good."
What magical lyrics-their brains are filled with pus. Ahhh, beautiful.
