One of my favorites, glad it was in the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack

@xwsftassell Virginia Plain was recoreded after the first LP was released. It was issued later on it as a bonus track. In fact it has a different bass player on it

A pack of cigarettes ? Is that a joke or a mistake ? There was a brand of smokes called "Virginia Slims" I know.

@xwsftassell is that why virginia plain was removed from re-releases of the album, i.e., they didn't get copyright approval for using the name of a brand of cigarettes? this has troubled me for years. i had the vinyl many years ago and about 20 years ago found a cassette of the album, but virginia plain was missing. i should have known it was a legal matter, but the idea of a corporate mentality destroying the continuity of great art is disgusting. virginia plain must follow 'if there is . . .'

@salgoudsamoht No. In England at the time it was generally considered unethical to put a single on an album because it assumed that the fans would end up paying for it twice. It was only later that singles automaticallly went on albums. The American release of the 1st album had "Virginia Plain" on it though. "Pyjamarama" was only on greatest hits albums.
