just watched it, great film, i personally think it takes place in Scotland, cause it is filmed in Scotland, it's Scottish accents and it's obviously the Scottish highlands, there is no place in Scandinavia that looks like that at all

@vaultkeeper2 Yes it is a great film indeed! I knew it was in Scotland because of what is written on the back, but i have heard some people say it was Vikings , but i just thought it wasnt because of their Scottish accents, but i dont know the full on history of Vikings, so i am not able to give a proper response on that subject. Glad you liked it mate!

Since you like Valhalla rising you might even like these older series of movies called, Korpen flyger aka Revenge of the barbarians aka The raven flies, I korpens skugga aka Shadow of the raven and The White Viking. They are swedish/icelandic productions. Good viking scandinavian/iclandic viking movies. They arn´t as symbolic as Valhalla rising but i think you might enjoy them.

By the way i meant that the chieftain said that they have many gods not goods :D

@Heavymetalrille I love all Viking tales ... even my Hockey club that i play for are The Vikings ... hahahaha ... such an interesting moment of Scandinavian History. So any chance i get of seeing more Viking tales, i am there! Thanks mate :)

@SpannersGerm669 the history of the vikings is partly mythological, not alot of it was written down, it's all written in runestones, hard to understand even by the most advanced lingual scientists, but they have found traces of viking settlements in Scotland so yes it's probably Scotland it's supposed to take place in

@hollywood251 i loved this movie. Just the sheer nightmarish feel to it. The question of faith in god and people losing their minds. On Imdb i gave it a massive 8/10 and was surprised to see it only registered 5.9/10 ... each to their own i guess, but as far as im concerned, this is brilliant. Thank you for watching!

@hiddeninabook Hey mate :) Thank you for commenting. I am not surprised one bit that Mads Mikkelsen is appreciated in the Scandinavian countries. Apart from his role in Casino Royale, as the villain, no one ever talks about him here in Australia, which is a great shame. The guy is brilliant! I think you might appreciate this film, its quite unique!!! ... thanks for watching mate :)

I'm a bit surprised that you say Mads Mikkelsen is underrated. As I don't think he is, at least not here. Here he's known as a good actor.

I was very sad that no one "got" this film. I loved it, everything about it. I normally don't like films with minimal dialogue but it fit well with the atmosphere of the film. This film is really good, thanks for the review!
