I respect KLS totally not only as an actress but for her publishing and promotional work over decades keeping DS in the public view and attention. I respectfully disagree with her

Let's take one item at a time if you want: first of all, the movie destroys a major concept of the series-the struggle for Barnabas Collins to keep his terrible secret a secret; like Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, a woman of dignity and honor, would allow a vampire to remain at large because of what is basically a bribe

    The film wasn't a comedy.

Tim Burton didn't get the idea from a spoof book. The trailer doesn't do the film justice.

The film was true to the series. Don't judge the film by the trailer ever again. Kathryn Leigh Scott enjoyed Burton's version and she said fans would like the film.

The Tim Burton version was respectful to the soap opera. It wasn't silly and they didn't turn Dark Shadows into a comedy.

The film is a fantastic retelling of the soap opera. Tim Burton didn't rape peoples childhoods and didn't destroy the soap opera. His version is respectful to the soap opera and it wasn't a cheesy comedy about a vampire adjusting to the 70's. The film has a dark, atmospheric edge throughout the whole thing. Never judge a film by the trailer again.

The film wasn't dopey, it was serious, it took itself seriously and wasn't a comedy. It had the same gothic vibe the soap opera had.

Jonathan Frid would've liked the film if he was still alive. Kathryn Leigh Scott enjoyed the film and the film wasn't a stupid cheesy comedy. The film is very respectful to the soap opera. The film wasn't a mockary of the soap opera, it was a fantastic retelling, it's not silly.

The film is not a comedy. Don't judge it by the freaking trailer. The film is a fantastic retelling of the soap opera, it has a dark atmospheric edge to it and it has full-bodied horror elements. Kathryn Leigh Scott enjoyed the film & Jonathan Frid would've liked it if he was still alive.
