On Sept. 9, 2009, UCLA and the Los Angeles Unified School District open UCLA Community School, an innovative pilot school partnership committed to providing high-quality education in one of the city's most underserved neighborhoods. Led by the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, UCLA experts helped to develop the new pilot school's instructional programs and train its teachers. Pilot schools have charter-like autonomy over curriculum, budget and staffing but participate as full members of the school district.

  • Yes, it's a school from K ~ 12 grade. There's 6 schools in our huge school complex. We're a pilot school, somewhat like a charter school, but they cannot reject children who live in the neighborhood to go. I'm really happy to go to this school, and I'm proud to say I'm a HAPPY 10th grader! :D

  • My mom applied for me to get there today.. I'll be leaving Belmont but I hope I have fun here (I'm an incoming sophmore) Hopefully I get accepted
