V8 Dirt Modified Rooster's Cup Decider At Lismore Speedway

The Final of the V8 Dirt Modified Roosters Cup will be decided at Lismore Speedway this Saturday night.

Local star Mark Robinson needs a good performance to consolidate his position as the major contender for championship honours.

The 2007-2008 season five round series commenced last November at Toowoomba's Charlton Raceway before the title trail stopped off at Maryborough Speedway, returned to Toowoomba for round four and now culminates with the title decider at Lismore. Last January's third round of the Rooster's Cup at Lismore fell victim to inclement weather.

Robinson showed right from the outset he would be a strong contender for series honours and followed up his runner-up finish to Luke Oldfield in the first round with another second placing in round two at Maryborough.

The fourth round at Toowoomba consolidated his position on the points ladder when he won from Matt Pascoe and Darren Latimer.

With a top three podium finish in each of the rounds contested, Robinson is poised to strike again and dominate the placings in the fifth and final round. Meanwhile, his rivals hold only a mathematical chance of a series victory against Robinson's monopoly.

Robinson's consistency in the Rooster's Cup can be matched only by Matt Pascoe who filled a third placing in the second round and followed up with a runner-up placing to Robinson in Toowoomba's fourth round.

This coming weekend's speedway action at Lismore also will feature the return of the midget speedcars from the Queensland Speedcar Racing Association. Many of the drivers will head to Lismore after contesting last weekend's Ray Revell 1000 Memorial race in Brisbane won by Craig Smith.

Street Stocks, Four Cylinder Sedans, Limited Sprints and the fabulous Junior Sedans will also be featured on the variety programme. Qualifying events commence at 6PM and the official racing programme starts at 7PM.
