Baby Kingbird? (yellow bellied chicky!)

Found alone chirping by a grocery store, south austin, texas. I can feed the bird for hours on end and it will simply sleep after eating. If I stop feeding it, it looks around a lot and yells. It's legs hardly seem supportive, but it sometimes tries to hop and stretch it's wings. I'm trying to figure out if it was meant to stay alive or not, and if so, how would it be living in the wild? I'm taking it to an Avian Rescue center tomorrow, but this has risen many questions!
