Third FPV helicopter flight.

Damn! The 164 Euro RC receiver (Graupner/JR SMC-19 DS) got some problems (Fail Safe) at 300m distance.......
No electronics damaged, crash costs only approx. 70 Euro (39 Euro Hyperion carbon fiber blades and the usual stuff: shaft, servo gear, flybar,......)
I was lucky that it has rained the day before, very soft earth!
The camera/ transmitter did not get damaged at the crash (except earth on the camera lens), only the power plug got disconnected
A tail strike at the landing would be much worse :-D

Setup:
Standard Thunder Tiger Mini Titan E325
Aluminum rotor head
Aluminum washout base
Align T-Rex 600 landing skids (weight + 77 g)
Kontronik Jazz 40-06-18 ESC
Hacker A20-6XL motor without cooling fan (broken at a crash)
Thunder Power 11,1V 3s 20C 2600mAh LiPo battery (weighs only 190 g!)
3x Thunder Tiger C1016 swash plate servos
1x Futaba S3114 tail servo
Robbe- Futaba GY-240 gyro
Hyperion 325 carbon fiber blades
Align Tail Rotor Blades for T-Rex 450 (plastic)
Graupner- JR MX-16S, 40 Mhz transmitter
Graupner - JR SMC-19 DS receiver
Approx. 2600 rpm headspeed

FPV Setup:
1,3 GHz 400 mW video transmitter and receiver from BEVRC with stock 3 dBi antennas
WDR700 camera (Sony Super HADII CCD), factory setup
Microphone
Weight FPV gear: approx. 100 g
Powering the FPV gear with the 3s flight battery

AUW 1024 g
Maximum flight time (hovering, slow flying): 10 min. (260 mAh/min energy consumption)

Costs:
Heli, camera approx. 1000 Euro (special setup for hard 3D flight)
Altogether approx. 2500 Euro (Flight Simulator, transmitter, batteries, charger, video goggles, FPV video recorder....)

Typical crash costs: 50- 300 Euro

  • @bowlingwithzombies yes 100% true

most scaring was the fact that I knew 3 sec. before the crash that "I'm going to die" ;-)

I have tried to raise the transmitter antenna for better reception but it was God's wish lol

  • @BosnianTechBoy guys try this yourself its realy cool if you had a battries that will never run out. then you can go around the would in 80days ! lol jk there is no battrie out there like this but its cool.

  • @BosnianTechBoy This is f....king true? :D

  • Only 300 mts ??

  • i am curently working on a project kinda like this but my helicopter is beaing controled by wifi internet over my computer and then its is linked to my Kelowna Ogopogo radio and also the fpv is being transmited over wifi internet. how you might say i put a Verizon MiFi 2200 Mobile Wireless HotSpot Wifi Modem so that means i can fly my helocopter 1,000,000miles from my house and spy on Area 51 thums up this so other people can see this!!!

  • Was enjoying the view. What happened ? How far were you when the heli crashed ?

  • @muni86 Hehe, like a dream without happy end ;-) Crashing heli is not nice, but it looks little bit funny with black screen of death at the end ;-)
