the death penalty is the ultimate deterrent , not one person who was executed went on to commit another crime . if it deters others is not an issue , it deterred the one committing the crime . plus it saves us a fortune in prison taxes .

Your own research shows:
1-specific - DP certainly prevents this specific offender from repeat acts
2-general - DP given as mandatory sentencing would almost certainly trigger a self-control/self-preservation reflex in future offenders psyche. DP MUST be accompanied by societal approval and be frequent enough to be a "sure thing" for child killers.
Rehabilitation - not possible for practicing pedophiles, highest rate of recividism.

The death penalty should be given after the trial and appeals.

There is no specific deterrence with capital punishment. Executions are incapacitation and no specific deterrence. Since deterrence is future oriented, then one has to exist in order to be deterred.

You mentioned race in the video. Do you think there is a stronger deterrent against killing White people in the U.S. as opposed to killing non-Whites? Also, I read some comment that violent criminals in the U.S. have a longer life expectancy on death row than they do on the street. Have you seen any numbers on that? That could really confuse the deterrent issue!

Homicide is largely intraracial. Homicide is relatively easy to solve because most victims know the perpetrator. only about 2% of all murders are death eligible. Studies of felony murder, homicide involving strangers, and police killings (these situations maybe interracial and death eligible). Only one study found that executions went up after a well-publizied execution. The others found no statistical difference.
