You Can't Always Work What You Want
From the Rolling Stones, "You Can't Always Get What You Want"
Adopted by Dr Beldar
I heard her today with good reception
A five nine nine sent by hand
I knew she would never make my connection,
At the close of a fading band
Chorus:
You can't always work what you wa-ant (x3)
But if you try sometimes, you might find, you work what you need
I went down to the contest station, and handed my amp some abuse
Loaded it up to max dissipation
Until I blew the 50-amp fuse
Chorus
I went down to the HRO store, to get my parts order filled
I was standing in line for Mr. Elmer, cause my amp did look pretty ill
I told him I tuned up by color, my favorite tubes run cherry red
I showed my amp to Mr. Elmer,
and he said one word to me and that was "dead"
Chorus
My map of azimuth projections showed a path to the promised land
But her filters were set for notch rejection
She could hear me but not understand
Chorus
Big Powers
From the Rolling Stones, "Dead Flowers"
Adapted by Dr Beldar
Well when you're sitting there making contacts everywhere
Talking to Berlin and Borneo
Well I know you won't hear me operating QRP
Cause you know I never could run QRO
Turn it down mister Big Gun, turn it down
I know you think you're the king of the DX crowd
And you can - send QSL cards every morning
Send your QSL cards by the mail
Send QSL cards to the bureau
And you'll lead the Honor Roll into your grave
Well when you're turning back and forth your Yagi stack
Getting through on first calls every day
Ah, I'll be in my basement room watching needles as I tune
On another band to take my pain away
Turn it down mister Big Gun, turn it down
I know you think you're the king of the DX crowd
And you can - send QSL cards every morning
Send your QSL cards by the mail
Send QSL cards to the bureau
And you'll lead the Honor Roll into your grave
Turn it down mister Big Gun, turn it down
I know you think you're the king of the DX crowd
And you can - send QSL cards every morning
Send your QSL cards by the US mail
Send your pounds of QSL cards to the bureau
And you'll lead the Honor Roll into your grave
Yes you'll lead the Honor Roll right to your grave
