I had to repent for all of the times I prayed for healing (for myself and others) and used Isaiah 53:4-5 out of its historical and Biblical context.

Isaiah 53:4-3 (King James Version)

4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Be blessed and be like the Bereans!

  • Jesus-Yeshua did heal and still can when "He wills it"not when some charismatic demands it, but more importantly He died for our sins . The problem is the gospel becomes focused on healing or prosperity not on salvation and forgiveness of sins. These word of faith charismatic false teachers are preying on people's weaknesses and profiting from it. Not every Christian will be healed -just because we are Christians does not mean we get a life free of pain or sorrow- Our treasures are in Heaven.

  • Amen...excelllent! Christians must understand that we are supposed to overcome (not wish away) prevailing circumstances. Pain, sorrow, grief is a part of GOD's plan for our lives...and that is not always a comfortable feeling but it's The Truth anyhow...

  • It is about time someone picked up on this heretical teaching, Amen sister ! I was ready to scream if I had to hear one more Charismatic Word of Faith church member twist the meaning of this Scripture and take it out of context and apply it to healing.

  • I agree! This teaching has got to stop.

  • Matthew 8:16,17...Jesus healed all that were sick......that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet (Isaiah 53:4), saying, Himself (Jesus) took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses (on the cross of Calvary). "griefs" in Isaiah 53:4 in the Hebrew means sickness & disease.....Jesus hasn't quit healing, people have just quit believing.

  • Respect, sister. I have an innocent, sincere question for you: How does this, then, line up with John 14:12, since healing is included in "the works" that Yahshua Ha Maschiach (Jesus Christ) did?

It's wonderful when "iron sharpens iron". Get back to me when you can. Thanks, & God (Yah) bless & keep you. HALLELU-YAH!

[John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.]

  • Sorry, YouTube botched my punctuation.

  • I didnt even know such teachings existed. I mean, while I also want to resist spiritualizing everything and turning into Stoics, and I do think the physical healing Christ did during his ministry before the Crucifixion did more than prove his prophetic (indeed Messianic) identity, but theres certainly a not yet in our redemption thats not merely our lack of faith.
