Inept Reviews: Cauldron I & II ZX Spectrum

A brief look at the Cauldron games of old. First part sees you playing a witch - possibly a distant relative of Grotbags - and you're off to defeat the evil Pumpking. Second game, it's role reversal as you play the part of a rather bouncy and uncontrollable pumpkin who's now trying to get revenge on the witch in the first game. How exciting.

Originally well received games, I personally don't find they've stood the test of time and in the case of the second game, it's so BLOODY FRUSTRATING!!!

Seems that the 2 was much worse than 1. But any of them seem boring as hell.

Apparently Cauldron 2 is really highly rated though. Loads of people give it a 8 or 9 out of 10. I have no idea how the hell they can put up with the frustrating little pumpkin for so long. I personally want to cut it's head open and make me some pumpkin pie out of it.

I got given these games in a box of old Speccy tapes recently. The screenshots on the cassette inserts looked quite impressive but, by heck, these games look painful to play. Your comment "...lose the will to live" summed them up perfectly. Thanks for the review.

i uest to play that when i was younger i almost got the broom but there no way to find out if i can get it and i dont rember the witch being blue and there was no ghost if i rember well that must of been up dated oh is this game even on the new computers consoles these days if it dose let me know thanks?

I enjoyed both, specially flying on the bvoom, but they were not favourites... I'd rather fly on a jetpac!!!!! But Lunar Jetman was even better, a jewell!!

I quite enjoyed the first one, particularly the C64 version, but I thought Cauldron 2 was a load of toss. Couldn't get my barnet round it.
