They were fortunate to have such a great drummer at such a young age. Larry doesn't get a lot of cred, but in the earliest days, Larry is who the band totally leaned on until Edge and Bono matured.

They are singing about the magazine "Boys Life" which was very popular in Ireland in the 60's, 70's and 80's. My Grandmother got me a subscription when I was over there. Great magazine for boys! Remember they were probably 17 or 18 when they wrote this song, so they weren't too far from childhood.
