On March 18, 2011, the Brennan Center for Justice hosted a symposium titled "Intelligence Collection and Law Enforcement: New Roles, New Challenges." The event brought together an array of perspectives to discuss the implications of law enforcement's intelligence gathering activities, and its impact on civil liberties and the effectiveness of our nation's counterterrorism efforts.
The third panel was titled, "Regulation of Domestic Intelligence Gathering and Potential for Reform." Panelists included Suzanne Spaulding (Bingham Consulting Group), Shahid Buttar (Bill of Rights Defense Committee), Philip Mudd (New America Foundation), Aziz Huq (Chicago Law School), and Emily Berman (Brennan Center).
