she certainly jazzed up the rookery

My friend Peter might rival her for jokes. He said to me one day "Would ya give us your B-flat there," knowing that I was a bodhran player.

Fahey's Jig and Hinchy's Delight.

irish folk music is among my favorites.. so uplifting.

Can anyone name these tunes?

Catherine gave me my basic bodhran lessons. Hi, Catherine, while I'm on here. John Keppel.

Yeah, I agree. He wasn't really going crazy here, but then Catherine has a lovely style of flute playing and I suppose Pat turned on full blast might overwhelm her;) I grew up in Tennessee! Where are you based?

I would just love to see Bohola play live again. I'm in Tennessee and they were just passing through and were booked to play in the middle of the week at a cool little venue. It was a great show. Even if they were going to be within a couple of hours, I'd make that drive. This video doesn't really illustrate how impressive Pat Broaders is as a rhythm player. He is amazingly talented.
I thought the bouzar was a new instrument, really guitar and zouk mixed up...but it's just a guitar stringed like a bouzouki :(

yep! I saw some guy at NTIF a few years back who did the same thing - took a guitar, cut a new nut and bridge for the bouzouki strings, and strung it up.
Seems to work tho.
