Failure to extract in a PTR 91

I decided to try a few different types of ammo out in my new PTR 91 SC to test it's reliability. The manufacturer states in the owner's manual not to use surplus ammo like the South African battle packs on the surplus market which leave a dirty gum in the chamber. The gun shot beautifully when I fed it US surplus, but as soon as I changed it over to the South African, I had a failure to extract on the first round each time i loaded a mag with it. In all fairness, this is a brand new gun with tight tolerances and the South African work perfectly in my FAL.

I yanked my barrel and replaced it with an HK91 barrel, now it cycles surplus all day

PTR91 also manufactures the GI model that cycles surplus ammo, it comes with HK barrel profile.

I've never seen that problem with my PTR 91. It's probably the best rifle I've ever bought!

@trubisz It's not a big deal once you have the barrel. It cost me 250 to have the barrel replaced (not including the cost of the barrel) Contact me if you need a good gunsmith

@csx555 Is your rifle built by PTR inc or is it an older JLD rifle?
