Zither Man

Colin Wallace, a prolific British choreographer of English country dance, is not especially well known in the United States. He has a reputation for creating highly complex dances, but as you can see from Zither Man, not all his work is "workshop level only."

Andrew Shaw, at the 2010 English Week at Pinewoods Camp, taught Zither Man in his course "Other Persons of Quality," and I've presented this video of it to give a flavor of Colin Wallace's choreography. Note the very interesting back to back toward the end of the dance and how the middle couple uses it to progress to the bottom. Music is provided by the wonderful Daron Douglas, violin, and Karen Axelrod, piano.
