So citrus fruit isn't bad for them? I read that you were supposed to avoid tangerines, oranges, grape fruit, and citrus in general.

I don't know about that. These are tropical birds, and they eat fruit as part of their normal diet. I'm not even sure if Jupiter eats the fruit as much as he likes to destroy it. But after many years of Tangerine eating, no problems.
