For our AP Literature class, we had to retell one of Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales stories. We chose The Merchant's Tale. We, in fact, received an A+ on this! Enjoy our amateur retell of a classic!

Directed by Raymond Mai
Produced by Raymond Mai
Camera Work by Annie Phengratsamy

January - Joseph Koesterer
May - Danielle Miller
Damyan - Jeffrey Dewall

In this reenactment of the original story, we modernized the content. January is a 60 year old bachelor who meets May, a young and vibrant girl. He wants to be in a relationship out of lust, while she is there for the money. She soon begins to have an affair with January's mailman, Damyan, while simultaneously finding out that January is blind without his glasses. With this, she takes his glasses, plots to be with Damyan for the afternoon, but in the end, she is caught in action. She convinces January that all is well and his eyes are deceiving him and the story ends as she continues to have outside relationships while still with January.

Moral of the story? Be cautious of others motives and don't let your own desires cause you to be ignorant.
