Genius guy. Love this piece. London Symphony Orchestra.

Grew up hearing Finlandia, but didnt understand its real meaning until I spent some time abroad. For most Finns this is sacred stuff.

TomBarristerX commented:
"I finally tracked this down. This is indeed the London Symphony, and the conductor is Philip Gibson. It was recorded in 1991.

Maestro Gibson has over four decades of experience as a violinist, conductor, and teacher. He has appeared frequently on BBC broadcasts and has recorded frequently. Mr. Gibson is currently the music director of the Barnet Symphony, an amateur group in London.

This work appears on the ABM CD "Scenes and Images".

(Thanks for clearing that up).
