Can fiddlers get any benefit from playing scales? How can sawing through a scale possibly be any fun? Get the answers in this video.

  • I just use YouTube. I don't know what an unsupported video format is. Sorry I can't help you there.

  • The pattern of the sequence depends on the notes involved. For example, it could be two notes up and one down, repeat as needed. Or two notes down, one up, repeat as needed. Those are both frequently used sequences recommended by Darol Anger.

  • you are the best teacher i have found...no nonsense approach to the things i want to know...most teachers dont do this stuff...

p.s. do you use your own hair for your bow hair?

  • @martinluthierking If you've seen The Red Violin, you know that only the hair from a beautiful woman is any good on the violin.

  • The question of getting the left had and right hand both in the video is tricky. Some fiddlers opt for just the left hand. I may try that also.
