Directed By Nandita Das.
This 60 second spot, depicts the tragic irony of privileged children enjoying themselves in school while underprivileged children toil under the burden of various forms of child labour. The creative device used is that of an ongoing roll call. As the class teacher calls out various roll numbers, some of these numbers are answered by children in the class, while the others are answered by the mute glances of children who pause in the midst of their labour as if in response to the call. The film seeks to suggest that education should be for all children and not just the preserve of the privileged few.
