  • Why'd they change his name when hegrew up!? I like Kimba better. The name's more original. XD

  • @BlueSilverFly His name was always Leo in Japan. The first dub changed his name to Kimba for some reason, but dubs of the sequels didn't.

  • @Ancalagon3 Here is the reason Kimba was named Kimba....Simba, as is mentioned in the history, means lion in Swahili, and is therefore public-domain. A man named Jacques Liebengut, who was a member of NBC's advertising team, had a daughter named Kimberly, for whom he had fondly come up with the pet name Kimba. He suggested this name as a solution to NBC's name problem, and it stuck."] so he was named Kimba so the name could be copyright. However Kimba in Swahili means corpse

  • i dont care what you guys say i like both kimba and the lion king

  • @edudrepus Yes! I think it is well beyond depute that Disney stole 99.9% of the concepts from Osamu Tezuka's Janguru Taitei.

  • I remember this film from when I was 6 Its a wonderful film

  • You need to say "It's an anime series from the 1960s, and his manga of the same title began publication in 1950".

  • @elbethere Maybe. But I don't want to think so, so I'm going to continue living in my little bubble of denial.

  • @lycaonpictus77 They did.

  • This was the first color tv anime. Could you imagine how taken away people were when they first say this opening?

  • Woah woah WOAH! This is very related to the Lion King. Don't get me wrong, but Disney had to take this idea cuz there is no way this can be exactly the same as that.
