British scientist Stephen Hawking, who turns 70 on Sunday, is regarded as one of the most brilliant physicists since Einstein.

His achievements include theories of time and space and the nature of black holes.

Another of his great triumphs is how he has defied the medical odds, celebrating his birthday, 47 years after doctors predicted he would die.

Al Jazeera's Andrew Potter reports.

  • I believe that God prevents his physical movements so that Stephen is forced to focus on physic's and such. We need him in our lifetime. Thank you Stephen.

  • Is he the voice for the 1980"s movie War games? Does anyone know how many GB's he runs on? An updated version of Steven Hawkins comes out in late 2012...Iit"s called Hawkings 8.0.

  • @SpasticatedCunt Ass whipe

  • Steven Haking is an inspiration to all of us. Please american people we need american physicist because there are none. God = everything. Peace is true Happiness.

  • Stephen Hawking makes virtually every other human on this planet look like a complete failure. He’s suffered from a debilitating motor neuron disease (ALS- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) since his early twenties, yet has become of one of the greatest scientists who ever lived. His contributions to human knowledge will NEVER be forgotten, as long as there are humans to remember. It really forces you ask yourself, “what the hell have I done with my life?”

    Answer: “compared to Hawking? Nothing.”

  • For goodness sake. Somebody wipe his mouth please

  • @okaikat Still here talking to yourself, you religioulous senile nutcase?!
