I left Osaka and arrived in Shizuoka 1.5 hours later via shinkansen (Hikari, 2nd fastest in the fleet).
I realized upon arrival that the hostel did not give any directions whatsoever. They only gave an address, and I was running out of cash so I didn't want to call for a taxi. So I walked. and walked. and walked for what seemed like hours but it really was less than 20 minutes. I finally learned how to read Japanese addresses! Because they don't have streetsigns usually, only tiny numbers placed somewhere on the property that consists of 3 digits and 2 hyphens like this: "1-5-23" but I learned how to use them.
Took a shower and walked back to Shizuoka station, then from there I went shopping in downtown Shizuoka. I spent a good 6 hours there!!!
I literally walked the entire town after that. I didn't go to the farmland but the main part of the town is quite small. My feet had multiple blisters... so I rested at Sunpu Park. It is located in Sunpu Castle, in the middle of Shizuoka. I watched the sunset partially from the park, and partially from a nearby building. It's called "Shizuoka Prefecural Annex Building" and there's an observation floor where you can see Mt. Fuji. I actually found 'Fujisan' as you can see in the picture where I'm pointing. It's quite small, though, so don't expect a giant mountain in the background. You might have to pause it to see it.
Then I went shopping in the little giftshops they have in the station. It's like a tiny mall within the station. Quite cool. Bought some groceries, and went back home to watch movies and eat. It really was relaxing to just chill out with some noodles and tea and watch movies by yourself.
For anyone who wants to see attractive japanese girls in kimonos, or japanese men in yukata, go to Shizuoka or Kyoto. There are very few people walking around Shizuoka, and those who are walking around, are very attractive people. Amazing.
