This is part two of The Order - a short series of AE tutes showing you how to create a medieval-looking title animation with Knights Templar-style elements (parchment, wax seal, dust motes etc).
In this tutorial I'll show you how to create the massively popular 'growing text' effect using the write-on effect as a motion matte. Part three coming soon!

  • i can't find the parchment font you are using, any idea's. this is my first time in after affects so don't judge if this is a stupid question

  • @MrSuperGeekster Can't post a link - so type 'parchment font' into the search engine of your choice. Once you've downloaded the font file, double-click on it to preview, and select 'Install'. You'll need to restart Windows for AE to register any newly-installed fonts.

  • what font was used at start

  • @lalagushoru123 Parchment - see the comment above if you don't have it. (Sorry for the late response.)

  • Hello! Wonderful tutorial! However I'm using CS5.5 The Trial version to get a feel before I decide the buy, when you start moving the write on at 9:04, the brush doesn't trace, could it because it's a trial version?

  • @ReaReaUmbi Sounds like you haven't clicked on the stop watch to enable keyframes, so you're not recording your changes.

  • THANK YOU! so much for this! I'm new to AE and this is exactly what i've been looking for! It's Brilliant.... Not to mention you're voice is easy on the ear!

  • @0zon3xPwnz Wouldn't it have been easier, though, to just create these layers initially in photoshop, since as you convert a letter into shapes, you'll end up with the vector outline, where you can easily just delete nodes, instead of using the eraser tool?

  • Is there a way to do the text layers in AE without Photoshop?
