  • drop your weight to 400lbs, take orthodox stance, and do 2 sets of 6-9 reps on a 5-6 inch platform, 400lbs will feel light at first, then week by week put 10-20lbs on the bar, get a 500lbs orthodox 6inch platform dealflift for reps, and your deadlifting in the 700's easy. I wouldn't want to think what you could sumo deadlift then,LoL.

  • good advice... my weakest point is right off the floor... I'll do that while off season in order to add some variety to my training...

  • @AusWeightLifter you r an idiot there are deadlift suits...they r used in equipped powerlifting

  • ...they make deadlift suits....

  • bueno!

  • sumo deadlift is for girls. Mens do traditional deadlift.

And the dudes like this that lift sumo deadlift are just pussys.

    Probe i'm right:

    1) traditional deadlifters can lift their max also doing sumo technique.

    2) sumo deadlifter CANT lift their max using traditional deadlift, only in sumo deadlift.

    taditional deadlift is better

  • I agree, but you've got to remember this depends on body type, structure, mechanics and plain old preference

  • What is your max now?

  • not only is traditional proably more comfortable, but I reckon its harder, bar has to travel further, the further a bar travels the harder it is

  • if i were you i would put on about 595 or 610 and do 3x4 one week, 4x5 next week, 5x6 the next and you will be good

  • With a lifting suit?! There is no suit that will aid a deadlift.

A belt and wraps will give some assistance, but a suit! There is no suit made, sold or invented that aids with the deadlift. Thus, why it is called 'The Ultimate Test In Strength'!

  • I've never been a fan of the sumo deadlifts; it just seemed too awkward of a stance to really get a good pull. (But that's just me.) The traditional stance was more comfortable and allowed me to drive the weight up through my heels, thus giving my back a better assist from my hams and quads.
