  • Damn straight it was a mistake to invade Iraq. Nothing accomplished but lining the pockets of corporate criminals.

  • Bilderberg attendee all credibility is lost now.

  • @thesethreekings In all the reporting of this 'revolution' & military action not once has the tribal nature of 'Libya' (a confection cooked up by colonialists of the same nationalities who are now wrecking the place) so it is not me being 'simplistic', it is the West being pig ignorant again about places & people it regards as inferior to their Caucasian 'democracies'. What exactly is the 'mass murder' you speak about? Where is your hard evidence?

  • @stretchmorgan Each military intervention has its own unique set of issues. Obviously you can't just storm into places as soon as you realise that place has issues. If you understand politics you'll know that you have to a) gain support b) be able to afford it and c) not be in a position where military action might result in the sudden deaths of millions of innocent people e.g. North Korea. Try not to think too simplistically.

  • @thesethreekings So what are you gonna do about Burma, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, Zimbabwe, The Ivory Coast, North Korea...... Do you think Captain America has the ability to sort all that shit out with their crappy cruise missiles? Perhaps you need to travel more.

  • We overthew a terrible dictator. I think the occupation after was questionable, but you can't let a dictator that's responsible for mass murder carry on.

  • Well. How wrong you were.

  • Sorry Dude! Wasn't trying to plagiarize. It won't happen again. Thx!

  • Downfacingdog: You probably should have indicated this was a quote by Kipling. Prolly woulda gotten less ThumbsDown! :)

  • cycimian: Downfacingdog's post is a quote by Rudyard Kipling. I think it has something to do with what every other army (the Russians in the 80's) has ever experienced in Afghanistan -- basically all army's get bogged down there and are always defeated by the region.

Anyway, Rory Stewart is AMAZING. Love this guy. I will definitely send his non-profit some money when I can afford it (turquoisemountain [DOT] org)... (Have to get Barack Obama voted into office first, though... :) )
