Hae Wang Lee is a market owner by day, and a counselor by night, who leads free counseling sessions/meetings daily from 8pm-2am for recovering alcoholics, gamblers, and drug addicts. He founded the "Korean American Mission Center for Addiction Recovery (KAMCAR)" in an effort to help Koreans get past their shame based culture and start opening up in order to begin the healing process to complete recovery from past addictions. This video shows how one family's life was completely transformed and ultimately helped by this man.

*Note: I apologize for the horrible quality! I don't have a video camera and so I had to do this whole project with my digital camera's video camera option! So Sorry!!!

**Note: The video says it is 3:41, but it is actually 3:02 minutes long.

Enjoy the story!

  • All recovery meeting is anonymous. No one can take a picture. However, Ester Joe did a wonderful job with this short 3 minutes YouTube broadcast. This YouTube broadcast will be a great hope and courage for all addicts and their family forever. Most of all the most values is persons who showed and speaking in the movie is "Real". I would like to add "Recovery is Honesty" for reporter's last comment of Recovery is possible

  • All recovery meeting is anonymous. Especially for Korean meetings. So we never allow the inside to be exposed to be photographs. Even when we have 100days, or 1 year recovery celebration, no one takes his or her picture. Only Esther Joe, producer, was allowed to take picture and interviews attendants because she is one of the family member who was once in her family's sever addiction situation and recovered from it. In other words, it is hard to record recovery group inside.
