June Apple: old time fiddle, Adam & Truman Price, Tom Peloso

Jamming with Adam at Centralia & a stranger Tom Peloso asked to join in - turned out to be an excellent old time fiddle player, but host Ray Leach didn't catch his fiddling on film. Tom's in a band called Modest Mouse which plays indie rock.

Excellent. Please post more. You have a very unique style. In looking at your other videos, I'd guess that you used to play for dances back when folks would actually come and dance. I'm curious as to what region of the US you are in. Boy I miss playing for dances when folks would come.

Fiddlesmith - Thanks for asking! I live in Oregon and grew up mainly in the hills of Southern Oregon. Dad wanted me to learn to play fiddle like his uncle in the mountains of Georgia, whom I never met. Five years of stand-up violin lessons didn't do the trick, and I set it aside ... saw my first fiddle player around the age of 30. In the early 1970's we moved to WVa/VA for a few years, where I started calling dances,

quite by accident (caller was drunk and disappeared in the middle of a dance). People really danced there! Have since called many;  last month I called and fiddled an authentic Oregon Territory style dance, solo, two hours. A success: hired on for a couple more. Wish I had more tunes on video... but am completely dependent on the kindness of strangers.
