He has no idea about mixing, if he did he would want accurate speakers so that if he strings sound synthetic then he need to work on the strings, not have monitors that make that problem invisible to only him.
i think we want a speaker that is a joy to listen to and you aren't constantly thinking about yet are not too colored or add frills to the sound. you want them to be rather neutral (flat) to hear what the recording is actually putting out. then you can mix and continually compare to common stereo speakers to see how they translate. I don't think we want to first mix on bad sounding speakers. I personally like Adams and Events so far as the best monitors i've heard where you can hear everything.
this guy is a retard! he has it backwards...his mixes are gonna translate like shit...they're gonna sound terrible on any other systems because his speakers are making them sound fuller and coloring the sound in ways that the mix really doesn't contain...
Isn't it best to be driven to the best mix possible? If it makes your synth strings sounds "more synthy" then, is it accurate, you have to ask yourself.
PS: I know nothing about monitors. I'm gonna get some next month, I hope. I am looking at Genelecs and Adams. Dynaudio, I've heard good things about too. I've heard KRK VT series is ok, RP series are poop.
