Makotrac's Go Kart Instructor, Makoto Ikime demonstrates the top level kart on the International Race Circuit.

The kart can be driven by the public, but drivers must have a GOLD Star Go Kart Action Licence through Makotrac. To received that qualification drivers must go through five levels. Drivers are evaluated mainly through times, but race lines, braking, steering and acceleration techniques are also very important.

The Gold Star Kart is a top level chassis, made by Swiss Hutless Formula C Chassis. The frame is a crome moly 30/32mm thickness, runs a standard 40mm axle, aluminum rims, front and rear disc brakes and has an alfano lap timer.

The engine is a german designed Wankel engine, consisting of 300cc and producing 50hp at around 7500 to 8500rpm.

Top speed is 160-180km/h.

  • how much do these karts cost?and how often do you have to rebuild the motors?

  • $7500 to $8000. Recommended every 50 hours.

  • Can you actually buy these engines (AIXRO XR50) in australia? Is it $7500-$8000 for the motor or for a kart & motor?

Who sells them? Can you get spares? Are you allowed to drive them on normal AKA kart tracks if you've got a kart racing license?

  • Yes you can buy, $8000 for a complete engine kit. The Australian dealership is changing hands in about two months time. Spares and engines will hopefully be available and a bit more affordable. At the moment there is no stock. Unfortunately no tracks other then Makotrac allow the Aixro's to run.

  • @RUPTIM01 The engines have come down in price. They are now $6000.00.

  • Yes just like a clubman, one has a piston and one has a rotor!

  • How long before some crazy rich guy puts two of these on a kart?

  • i thrashed one of these on my rotax

  • They actually make you get specially licensed to drive a gokart in the UK? No thanks. I like living in the US where you can drive a gokart with no license. :P

That thing sounds a little underpowered, either that or the driver isn't doing a very good job at keep it in the powerband. The only good rotary is a turbocharged rotary!

  • Holy Crap I would kill to drive one of these.... They need an actual racing class lol

  • cool kart mate. i've got a couple of rotary carts check out my site aza2speed on youtube
