You lot amuse me. Apart from a couple here who actually got it, it has nothing to do with race. It's a bloody Cricket ad and the guy in the green and gold is an Australian cricket player in the West Indies supporters stand surrounded by West Indies supporters. That's the awkward situation. but then, Americans don't know about any other sports played outside your Country. Get a life guys

For the ad to be racist you need to presume that the crowd are conforming to a stereotype, which is you being racist, not the commercial.

The fact you mentioned basketball means you haven't got a clue about cricket, or the fact that fans of different countries don't normally sit together.

This was set in Jamaica which was hosting the Cricket world cup, sponsored by KFC.

It's awkward because he's not sitting with the Australian team fans.

Err no It's not. It's awkward because he supports the Australian cricket team and he is sitting with opposing West Indies cricket fans. In Europe and Australia fans of opposing teams don't sit together at sport events.

The cricket world cup was set in Jamaica and KFC were a sponsor of the event. So obviously most of the fans there will be black

This would be racist if it was set in America and an American sport. However it was not. Americans are seeing this TOTALLY out of context.

1. It was at a cricket world cup in Jamaica so most people there were black

2. KFC were a sponsor of the event.

3. The man was sitting with opposing fans, which would be a problem regardless of skin colour

4. The West Indies / Jamaican fans are famous for their singing and dancing during games

This was set in the West Indies/ Jamaica which was hosting the cricket world cup. The white australian was sitting with opposing fans who are famous for their singing and dancing. He was an outsider based on fans, not race.

It would be just as awkward and maybe more awkward if he was sitting with England fans.
