  • Thank US political correctness for that---it is not even permissible to refer to Monostatos as "black" in the US; the usual dodge is to substitute "blue" or something like that (the original "schwarz" inconveniently does mean black.)

Kathleen Battle was very good at singing the role, whatever her appearance.

  • @hearts0ngs "Does not deserve to be a man", is actually the last line. Quite specific (which makes sense with the plot and context).

  • Greatest Bass voice ever, and a personal hero/role-model mine. :)

  • today is my exam... and i'm singig this aria... hope it will be ok!

  • Moll is the king

  • @salmig99 What do you mean? This seems flawless to me!

  • "Within these hallowed halls One knows not revenge. And should a person have fallen, Love will guide him to duty. Then wanders he on the hand of a friend Cheerful and happy into a better land. Within these hallowed walls, Where human loves the human, No traitor can lurk, Because one forgives the enemy. Whomever these lessons do not please, Deserves not to be a human being."
  • I love high notes. I love the Queen of the Night, I love "Popoli di Tessaglia", I love "Quando Più Irato Freme"... but this is just beautiful. Low voices have their place, too. It is amazing, as well.

And I, as a tenor/baritone (still don't know for sure) am damned to do none. So sad :c

  • Questo sì che è un basso!!!!

    Eccellente interpretazione!

    Bravo!
