I worked at POLYPIPE INC.in Nevada for many years and there are many SDR's that determine the thickness of the wall that changes the(i.d.) inside diameter that might effect the size barb fitting you use, just take that into considederation when buying parts

First off..don't use wd-40 if this maybe for a fresh water that feeds into your house.. that's not good.. 2nd use what's called a ford coupling..its compression so all u will need is 2 channel locks and about 3mins of your day....

That metal threaded pipe insert creates a bottle neck in the pipe, essentially reducing it to 1/2." The stainless steal clamp will rust away. The WD-40 can't be good for the plastic materials, spit is better. Have a nice day.
