Lake|Flato Architects built Spongebob CANpants on September 11, 2011 in hopes of reminding passerby at Northstar Mall to donate to the San Antonio Food Bank. This event took place in conjunction with the annual Canstruction Competition and required weeks of brainstorming, drafting, and planning. CANpants took approximately three hours to construct and stood 8-feet tall. He stood among many other structures at Northstar Mall and nationally that have contributed over 17.5 million pounds of food to community food banks since 1992.
