Because overall people did not take care of them. Its incredibly hard to find a 944 in mint condition like you
can a 911. Plus the were not originally Porsche's at all.
Porsche bought the 924/944 from Audi and stuck
a Porsche logo on the hood before it ever came out.

Because they are not thought of as "Porsche" by many, and as such are not as desirable. In my experience, the 944 lineage can be turned into true beasts for a fraction the cost of a 911 type, and they have always had better handling & brakes.
My race car is a 968CS. Depending on what you want for a car, you can get more car buying a 944 type or lineage.
Of course I love 911's as well, and lust for a GT, but such is life. A 911 I could afford, but I am happy with my 968 right now.

why are 944's so much cheaper than 911's?the older ones?
