@docj09 Yes but Tim Profitt went after the lady in Rand Paul's behalf which makes it third party self-defense - or defense of Rand Paul. You are not legally able to hurt a person once the struggle is over - which the judge determined Tim Profitt did. That is why he was charged and prosecuted. You can clearly see that the victim was not longer a threat when she was on the ground.

@ChicagoJoe57 the lady went after Rand...not the guy who took her to the ground. So no, that guy would not have been able to get off with self defense since she didn't go after him. Thanks for trying

@docj09 Wrong! Tim Profitt's lawyer tried twice to get charges against him dropped with no luck whatsoever. Later, Tim Profitt pleaded guilty and accepted his sentence. If have of what you claim was true the judge would have allowed him to plea self-defense.
