Not at all. With a maximum take off weight of 900000lb and 9902ft for take off run, 9995ft is enough for a B747-400 to take off. On landing just get out those reverses as soon as you can and the position of Runway 14 provides good wind for stopping. There's no danger if u follow procedures. I can even say that this airport can accomodate an A380 [some may not agree n i won't argue]. The only thing missing with FIMP is a good parallel taxiway.

That "pilotof norway" do not know what he is talking about...his only reference is the microsoft flight simulator.....lol!!!!! I am a pilot myself and have flown to Mauritius a couple of times and I would personally think it is one of the best scene and place to land....!

Great to hear that you have been in Mauritius 8 times. You are the most luckier person I know as although I am originally from there I live overseas and not been there for long time. Miss mauritius a lot.

FIMP has only a 9995 ft runway, with a 500 ft Threshold, and so many big aircrafts....scary landing and take offs, one mistake, and you're in the water...great film btw...

it's not scary at all dude, I live my whole life in Mauritius and travelled a lot. also one mistake there's no sea, there's ditch, the sea is 15km away... -_-
B744 usually has a 200ft takeoff height at mauritius.
