No shit.
Property taxes, social programs, faculties, building upkeep and supplies, residence staff, etc. etc. etc. etc. Universities have a LOT of fees/expenses
I think cupe would love for universities to give ALL revenue to its members.

I bet cupe cant wait to get back to there students who will welcome them with open arms. thanks you greedy fucks. see you monday

FUCK YOU CUPE FOR RUINING MY YEAR! You are all ungrateful bastards wanting above the poverty line...

Agreed. I work in the recieving end of a community retail store. I get paid slightly under $10 an hour, and since this is the school year, I can only work on saturdays. I can't go full time since the strike might end. That $10/hr is going towards school, but I can't put 50,000 students out of class by telling my retail job boss I'm not gonna work. I'd just get fired. So why does cupe think their jobs are better than my job? We all pay for Uni, we all take on loans. Only cupe gets to strike.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that CUPE isn't just student teachers or TAs. The majority of my professors are included in the CUPE union...
so from my point of view, I mean if you go through all the work to become a professor and teach at a university, i guess it'd be nice to be paid more?
But then again, i realize my program doesn't really represent the majority of the university, so once again, I'm on the fence.

At a university, a Professor knows more about the subject matter than the student teacher. A professor runs the class, while a student teacher only helps out. This is why a professor SHOULD make more money than a T/A, even though the T/A may do half of the actual labor. The T/A is doing the easy half. They are doing the marking and tutorials. Although it is the same amount of work, it is work that does not require as high a knowledge of the subject matter as the lectures or course outline.

In the army, a Sargent makes more money than a Private even though the Private does more work than a Sargent. The Sargent will supervise the bridge build, while the Private will actually build the bridge. The Sargent makes more money than the Private because he has a much higher level of training than the Private. Only he can act as Bridge commander. The Private cannot.

Is this how a university student communicates? By leaving crude and hateful comments on all the CUPE support videos you can find online? We're all frustrated, but if you're really that concerned for your education, try using it to leave messages that are a little more constructive. It takes a lot of balls for CUPE to do what they're doing.
Wow that really sucks for CUPE 3903...how should they go about fixing it? Oh I know...how about striking for 3 months at the students expense! "Cause we are doing this for you" Go CUPE!!!!! (Don't like your job/how much your getting paid? FIND ANOTHER ONE.) Don't make us pay for it....we are already paying upwards of $5000 to sit on our asses all day while YOU bitch about your job security...where's our class security?

lol, this is silly... "Why is York University paying less than 10% of their revenue to the CUPE 3903 members that do over 50% of the teaching"
let me tell you why... PAYING TEACHERS IS NOT THEIR ONLY EXPENSE!! There is playing all the non teaching staff of york and their benefits, utilities, taxes, scholarships and bursary funds, operating costs, interest on long term debt... and more! Come on CUPE, you are all supposed to be educated, act YOUR age!!
